Miniature Wargaming - Getting Started
Sanda Events - Sanda Games Wargames Events - Model Painting Advice
Miniature wargaming - What are war games all about? Well the basics are founded in real war scenarios and tactics no matter whether you are battling with American Civil War figures, armies from the warring states of ancient China or figures from The Lord of The Rings!
As children we probably would have lined up our "armies" whether it be Teddy Bears or Model Soldiers and rolled marbles or launched other projectiles to see how many we could knock out of "action" - Well this is just one (large) step up from that level.
If you are looking at miniature wargaming as a new hobby or just a passing curiosity – Wanting to know how wargamers actually go about playing with their model "soldiers" - and we will call them soldiers for simplicity. Maybe you just want to know why they do it!
Well we'll go right back to basics for you here. We won't get bogged down in this section with information you need to push on from here, such as the more detailed historical reference materials and companies that will supply the things you will need, such as figures, reference books and battlefield terrains.
To say miniature wargaming is playing with toy soldiers is a gross over-simplification, but within this simple explanation you will find, at the one end, that small child bowling over his random assortment of cavalry, cereal packet toys or plastic figures using marbles or bean bag "grenade", to the serving Professional Army Officer testing a real-life tactical situation on a huge battlefield layout before committing real live troops to the battle.
Somewhere between those two poles lay the average modern wargamers! At Sanda Games we will get you started! Call in and see us - we won't shoot you!
